Hope for the Vietnamese Pheasant
In mid-April, Pairi Daiza welcomed the birth of two young Vietnamese Pheasants, an extremely rare species classified as critically endangered.
Discreet and fragile, these birds represent precious hope for the conservation of their species. Their birth is the result of meticulous work carried out by the Park’s zoological teams, who ensured that the eggs were kept in the best possible conditions before placing them back with their parents at the moment of hatching.
Today, the two youngsters are growing up in the Tropicalia greenhouse, surrounded by attentive parents. These births remind us of the importance of international conservation programmes, such as the EEP (European Endangered species Programme), coordinated by EAZA (European Association of Zoos and Aquaria), which work to protect endangered species.
At Pairi Daiza, every birth is a joy. For a species as threatened as the Vietnamese Pheasant, it is also a true victory.
