A new beginning for 154 Yellow-bellied toads
What joy and pride for Pairi Daiza and its Foundation! After growing up in the Park, 154 Yellow-Bellied Toads have been released into the Saint-Michel-Freyr State Forest, in partnership with the Department of Nature and Forests of the Walloon Regio.
These tiny amphibians, no bigger than a 1-cent coin, leapt energetically into their new environment. A moving scene that represents much more than just a return to nature: it is a new step in the conservation of a threatened species.
Launched in 2024, this reintroduction program aims to restore this remarkable toad to its rightful place in the wild. Each release is a victory for biodiversity, and a step toward a richer, more vibrant world.
At Pairi Daiza, we are proud to contribute passionately to the protection of life. Because every heartbeat, no matter how small, matters for the future of our planet.
