A heartbreaking story that truly moves us
A few days ago, a very young female fawn, just 7 days old, was found in a critical condition. The victim of a tragic accident, she had become trapped in an agricultural mower. She was taken in by the CREAVES of Perwez, a centre specialising in wildlife in distress, before being handed over to us for intensive care.
Her frail little body, weighing just 2.7 kg, bears the scars of this tragedy. Her injuries are severe: she has three fractures: one to the phalanx of her right foot, another to the left calcaneus, and the third to the right metacarpal. There were also numerous deep wounds, some so severe that they revealed her tendons and muscles.
Her condition remains serious, but despite the pain, this little fawn shows admirable courage. A spark of life still shines in her eyes, a sign that gives us hope. She will be cared for at our centre for at least eight weeks, the time needed to stabilise her fractures, treat her wounds and ensure that her weaning takes place under the best possible conditions.
Every day at her side is a battle, but also a lesson in resilience. Our thoughts are with her through this ordeal. We sincerely hope that she will find within herself the strength to heal, and that one day she will be able to regain the freedom she deserves.
