Our contribution

As an ambassador of the North Pole, Pairi Daiza and its Foundation have the mission, among others, to take care of the future of polar bears in the wild.

Indeed, classified as vulnerable species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, they see their future threatened by various threats. The most important threat they are facing is global warming, and in particular the melting of the sea ice which emerges from it.

Faced with this alarming finding, the Pairi Daiza Foundation decided to support a scientific research project coordinated by our partner Polar Bears International, the largest international organization dedicated to the preservation of polar bears and their living environment. The project consists of understanding how global warming is affecting the lifestyle of polar bears in Hudson Bay, Canada. How are their health, eating habits and movements affected by the drastic changes in their ice pack? These are all questions that need to be answered urgently in order to preserve the future of this symbolic Arctic species. The Pairi Daiza Foundation supports this project by investing an amount of 10,000 $ per year, for a period of at least two years. We are counting on your help!

Show your commitment to the fight against global warming

The fight against global warming is crucial in order to help the polar bears and contribute to their long-term survival. By feeling committed, all of us, in our own way, we can achieve this goal. Every gesture counts, no matter how small. Leave your car at home from time to time and replace it by your bicycle for short trips, lower the thermostat a little at home, sort your waste, eat local and seasonal fruits and vegetables, follow a slightly more plant-based diet, ... The options are varied and numerous! What gesture have you introduced in your daily life (or are you planning to) to reduce your CO2 emissions and come to the rescue of polar bears? Young and old, let your creativity speak and share your eco-friendly gestures with us by completing this drawing. Email us a picture of your designs to coloriage@pairidaiza.eu and we will post your drawing on our Facebook page. Grab those pencils!
