The Mersus Emergo

Step aboard the Mersus Emergo: an exploration into the world of reptiles and amphibians

Quote

Moored in the Eastern Lagoon of Pairi Daiza, the Mersus Emergo is far more than just a ship. This former whaling vessel, now transformed into a center for awareness and education, is home to dozens of reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates in an immersive setting that is both mysterious and captivating. Once a hunter of marine mammals, this symbolic boat has now dropped anchor for good, with a new mission: to protect rather than to chase.

As visitors cross the gangway, they embark on an extraordinary journey. Every corner of the ship reveals a surprising encounter: snakes, lizards, frogs, turtles, spiders… All these often misunderstood or misjudged species are part of the conservation and awareness program run by the Pairi Daiza Foundation.

The spaces have been carefully designed to recreate the animals’ natural environments, while also offering an educational, respectful, and enriching experience for every visitor.

The Mersus Emergo is not just an exhibition, it’s a total immersion into the world of reptiles and amphibians, and an invitation to see these often-overlooked but vital species in a new light.

An experience to share with family or friends, one that will captivate the curious and nature lovers alike.
