Pied Imperial-pigeon
It is not endangered but its situation deserves to be observed
This black and white pigeon lives in a large geographical area: the whole of South-East Asia, to such an extent that the species is not Endangered.
However this bird is frequently shot for its delicious meat.
Moreover, the female usually laying only one egg per year, the Pied Imperial Pigeon’s reproduction rate is low and, consequently, the situation of this species deserves to be strongly observed in the future.
The Pied Imperial Pigeon feeds exclusively on fruit that it picks directly from trees, seldom from the ground. It is found in coastal forests, mangrove swamps and coconut plantations.
