A farm made for children

Previous activity Next activity

Your first stop after the Great Gate is the microcosm of the farm for children. In an oasis of greenery located between old farm buildings, all frolicking and playing, are the trusted inhabitants of the farmyard. Children cannot get enough of it and they often tend to want to stop here more than once. Soon the big animals will also also be given a permanent home here as the farm will be relocated. The most authentic and expansive crafts all have a studio here.

In the centre of the yard (around the picturesque carriage house with the octagonal dovecote in the vault) you will find yourself wishing you had more eyes and hands as you are surrounded by goats, donkeys, ponies, poultry, sheep, pot bellied pigs, rabbits and more. All of the animals are only to happy to be petted and to take an appropriate treat from your hands (if you are unsure, ask one of our caregivers who would be happy to help).
And no, your eyes are not deceiving you - these animals really are smaller than normal!!

Some of them are the result of successful cross breeding between dwarf species, while others (such as the sheep of l'Ile d'Ouessant) are varieties that have adapted to harsh living conditions where food is scarce and as a result their stature shrunk, which is simply less demanding.
